Conditions: Nice flat morning with an increading West wind and mist coming and going.

The first trip launched to some beautiful conditions and once on anchor we enjoyed the sun whilst we waited for the sharks to arrive. Not too much later our first shark arrived, this was a large female that we have seen now three times in the last two weeks which is fantastic as we had not seen her since September last year. The stand out sharks of this trip we both very different but both very interesting to watch today. The first was our large female with a few parasites on her, one we have been seeing frequently lately, and whilst she did not stick around the entire trip when she did show up she made some amazing passes and half breaches out of the water right in front of the cage. The second one arrived towards the end of the trip and was a small male we know as “Cutfin” due to the damage to his dorsal fin and well known to do slow attempts on the bait and decoy line with his jaws open! The second trip started off well with a shark around almost instantly after we arrived back at our cage. The conditions had taken a little turn for the worse with the wind picking up causing a bit of chop however this had no effect on the number of sharks we saw and we had more than enough sharks around and those that did turn up proved to very activity. We had two very interesting visitors to the boat this afternoon, both part of our tagging and tracking program. One a small male shark, named “Francois” who was tagged last December the other a large female, yet to be named, that was tagged only a few days ago. We also had the Short-Tailed stingrays gliding up and down from the depths throughout the day for both trips. A fantastic day out in the Shallows…
