It was an early start this morning, but definitely worth it. Although we were waiting a little while for the sharks to arrive, once they were around the boat the activity was great. They were actively going for the bait and decoy. It totally we encountered four different Great White sharks, taking their turn in passing by our vessel Slashfin. All of the sharks we got to see were estimated around three meter. The third shark we saw was very entertaining and fast, he was trying several times to get hold of the bait line.

The second trip of the day was short and sweet with 5 different animals including Clarence, the 3.5m male who has been hanging around in the bay as of late. He was the largest animal o the trip and we had a couple of smaller White Sharks around tow who were a little more active around the bait line. We also took a stop by the kelp (the most abundant seaweed in the area) collection boats to show our clients how they harvest this highly versatile plant.

The 3rd trip of the day saw the emergence of an awesome 4m male who has been around the boats for the last week or so. This majestic specimen, now dubbed “Andreas” after one of our hard working volunteers, was incredibly active and really stole the show today. This shark stuck around for almost the entire trip. His signature move today was to cruise incredibly close to the cage at a leisurely pace, giving the divers a great view before gently checking out the bait. He seemed to only mouth at the bait, somewhat half-heartedly, as if only to investigate it.

We went on to have 3 more sharks on this trip with one giving s quite a nice semi breach. The weather was also really pleasant out there today which made for a perfect day on the ocean.
