An early wake up call for our visitors and White sharks this morning. We launched with some swell and winds present making the water a little choppy but not too bad at all. To the Islands we headed and were the first out, finding our anchor spot we then waited close to 30 minutes before our first shark arrived, gliding in from the back of the boat. The first few sharks were happy to cruise by, not causing to much fuss. The arrival of three very well known males to the boat saw the activity pick up. This was “Tum K”, “Cutfin” and “Poseidon”. These three males happily came close to the cage, attempted to snatch the bait and decoy and caused a lot of comotion amongst our divers and shark watches. A look at the Cape Fur seals signalled the end of our trip as we made our way back to the warmth of the Great White House!

The second trip of the day was an exclusive for a family visiting from the United States of America. The sharks were around from the beginning, including the shark that the family adopted named “Liney”, a small female with a fantastic presence around the boat!

The third and final trip of the day launched to much nicer conditions as the wind and died down and the swells had lessened. The sharks were around quite quickly with our first shark spotted about 10 minutes after placing anchor. The exciting addition to this trip was a female that Marine Dynamics and Dyer Island Conservation Trust has known well for years now after she was entangled in fishing line, she is known as “Fishing Line Shark” aka “Lucky” after the crew disentagled her, and has been a regular visitor to the bay since. This is the first time we have seen her in the areas waters since the start of the year. Welcome back “Fishing Line Shark”. We also had a very active, large male around, one with many patches of parasites and a interesting injury to his upper jaw that leaves that section of the teeth exposed. This shark has also been adopted by one of our guests on the third trip and has been fondly named “Dave”! Before ending our day on the water we went for one more cruise through Shark Alley!
