Conditions:  A typical winter’s day at sea.

We had a good trip with 5 sharks around the boat today. The largest was a 4m animal that appeared early in the trip but only came up for the bait a little later on. The smallest was a 2.5m male who was really active throughout the trip, giving us a couple of great shows. He also managed to get those watching from the boat wet with a flick of his powerful tale. This shark has a little scarring around his face which is probably from squaring foo with some prey. We also had another smaller shark around with some fresh wounds. The highlights of the day came from a 3.5m animal who ambushed the bait and decoy numerous times for us, exposing his beautiful white belly. We also had a smaller shark try for a kelp gull who was hovering just above the water. The shark semi breached in an attempt to get hold of this juvenile gull.

We also managed to spot some Bottlenose Dolphins which is always a great addition to any day.
