Conditions: Fairly cloudy start with patches of warm sun breaking through, gentle swell

We mixed it up a little today, after a couple of days in the shallows it was time to try the Geldsteen. Visibility today was good and with only a gentle rolling swell, conditions were set for a pleasant morning. We dropped the cage in and the wait for the white sharks began. While we waited this morning, we chatted about some of the things these sharks like to get up to in the Geldsteen, as well as learn a little bit about how the white shark develops through its life. After a brief encounter with a Cape Fur Seal around Slashfin, a group of our guests were keen to drop into the cage to check out the underwater world. While they were not lucky enough to observe the sharks today, we did have some great fun trying to attract the sharks by pretending to be seals, or more specifically making sheep noises underwater!!!

Although we had an unsuccessful cage dive day, we were able to go and check out the Cape Fur Seal colony & Dyer Island. We saw some wonderful Cape Cormorants and some playful seals in Shark Alley. The conditions in Shark Alley were great, so the stage is set for the winter sharks to return to the Island, but we must remain patient and hopeful that our sharky friends will return soon.
