Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: Moderate (14C-16C)
Visibility: Poor
Conditions: Beautiful sunny day, with a little swell.
It was a cloudy morning as we headed out to sea. Once we arrived, our divers climbed into their wetsuits, and our crew attached the cage to the side of Slashfin. Soon the first Copper sharks arrived. Our divers climbed into the cage, and like gorillas in the mist, the Copper sharks appeared out of the dark water to show our divers a glimps of them, before returning to the deep. A short-tailed stingray visited our divers in the cage as well. At the end of the trip a bit of drizzle fell out of the sky, and we soon made our way back to shore. Once on shore our divers warmed up nicely with some nice warm soup and homemade bread.
Once our second group got on the boat we headed back to the Shallows. Because of the rain we had to gear up on land so that was out of our way once we got to our dive location and our guests were ready to enter the cage, once the crew attached it to the side of Slashfin. Starting with Copper sharks, we had a beautiful begenning of our trip. A stunning 2.5 m female white shark made a few attempts to get our bait leaving divers in absolute awe of its beauty and power. A short-tailed stingray joined the party mid trip coming up really close to the divers in the cage. Once everyone had their chance in the water we were ready to head back.
