Sightings:  Great White Sharks, Bronze whalers and Cape Fur seal

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

What a stunning day for wildlife sightings with fish, mammals and birds encountered. We experienced a low swell and slight wind throughout the day, the latter of which seemed to encourage some amazing bird sightings including a Giant Petrel and Shy Albatross gliding right by our vessel. A Cape Fur seal also made an appearance throughout the day but really we all knw why our guests had joined us…for the sharks. Bothe the Great White shark and Bronze whaler were seen on both our trips today. The morning started off well with a White shark seen very soon after we had arrived. This first encounter was Shaun  the shark a 3.3m male that we have had the pleasure of seeing for close to six weeks now. This shark was one of our main sightings for the morning however we also had another male, just slightly smaller in size appear and three juvenile female, two of which were so fast and feisty with their activity it was hard to keep up and one completely opposite with slow, curious approaches allowing us all to truely appreciate this magnificent creature.

The second trip of the day was off to a similar shark with little to no waiting time before our first shark sighting. This was the small inquisitive female from the previous trip back again, Shaun the shark was not far behind her and yet again  these two individuals were the highlight of the trip. A new female appeared, approximately 3.0m in length, with markings vvery similar to Shaun we had to do a double take to make sure it was indeed a new shark but the dorsal fin and lack of claspers (the extenal male organs) confirmed this. A fourth and final sighting rounded out this trip with another juvenile turning up to make for a fantastic finish to the day.
