Trip 1
Today did not resemble one of our Summer day’s with overcast, grey skies and a bit of wind and swell hanging around however our sharks didn’t mind and we still had some nice sightings. The first trip was off to a surprising start with “Paisley”, one of our acoustically tagged sharks , rocketing up from the depths with an ambush approach and coming back to try a few more times. The second shark was one of the smallest we have seen in previous days and did not stick around long, possibly due to the presence of the larger female, “Paisley” or even the arrival of another large female “Mini Rosie”. The other three sharks to turn up at the boat this morning were all male and signalled a day of male dominance around Slashfin. This trip not only saw sharks but also some Common dolphins in the distance that appeared to be chasing fish around the bay.

Trip 2
The second trip of the day briefly had “Paisley” show up at the beginning before disappearing. Next up was one of our small males that recently was recorded in the bay with a hook seen in the left side of his jaw. This is something we may see quite often and in most cases we find that with time that hook will work it’s way out. The rest of the afternoon saw the large males coming and going with things getting a little quite towards the end of the trip, however in this time “Sellendilloh” did appear, a large male that was satellite tagged back in April, 2012 and of which you can find more information including his tracking data on Ocearch’s website here.
