Location: Gansbaai, South Africa

Dive site: Joubertsdam

Water temp: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Broadnose sevengill shark, Short-tail stingray, Cape fur seal + Southern right whales

Summary: An early start for our first arrivals of the day, but what better wake up than Atlantic waters and shark activity! Upon arriving on anchor, we waited no time at all for our first Bronze whaler sharks to show up, afterwhich they stayed and showed off their schooling behaviour. The graceful and impressively sized Short-tail stingray also soon appeared in front of the cage. To top off the elasmobranch sightings, the second trip even got to witness a third species, the Broadnose sevengill shark. Topping off the day sightings, a Southern Right whale pair were sighted in the shallows, indicative of whale season here in Gansbaai. To all guests who joined us today, it was a pleasure having you all on board Slashfin!
