Conditions: A sunny day with some wind. 

This morning we headed out towards our dive site at The Shallows as the waves sprayed across the bow of Slashfin. Once we arrived at our dive site, our first arrival was a Cape fur seal. It hung around the boat for a while, displaying it’s incredible fast hunting technique. Unfortunately it took a while before the first coppers sharks arrived. We quickly relocated to a better spot, with the seal following us soon, and once the first copper sharks arrived, our divers jumped into the cage. Soon a Southern Right Whale appeared behind our boat as well, and our clients got a good view of the impressive marine animals around Gansbaai. At the end of the trip we headed back to the Great White House where our guests enjoyed a lovely soup lunch.

We got to see some beautiful Copper Sharks on our second tour today. We also had a couple of visits from the pesky adult Cape Fur Seal who’s been hanging around Slashfin as of late. We started our tour just after lunch and after travelling into the wind to our dive spot, we head on over to our cage to reattach it. We had our first Copper Shark quite soon, so we put our first divers into the water, with the sharks giving a few very close passes on the first cage. We got to see some fairly large Coppers around including a big girl with lots of scarring all over her body. We also got to watch them surface in the distance, checking out the seaweed and showing off their dorsal fins. All of our divers got to see some action inside the cage, although the water was a little milky and once everyone had had a chance in the water, we pulled up our anchor and head on back into Kleinbaai. On the way, we passed lots of Cape Cormorants, which breed on Dyer Island.
