It was a nice early start for our visitors this morning however the natural scenery surrounding Kleinbaai is spectacular and from the water with the sun rising it was a stunning start to any day! This morning’s trip started in a frenzy with 4 different sharks within the first half an hour of anchoring including our largest shark of the day an astonishing 4.2m female and our smallest shark of the day at the other end of the length scale at approximately 2.5m. However in the world of shark cage diving it’s great to have a variation in the sizes of sharks that we have visiting the boat as they all behave differently and it’s nice to be able to show this to those on board. The trip slowed down towards the end however the last shark of this trip turned out to be “jawsome”, a juvenile male, we have seen frequently since the start of 2015 with a distinctive notch in its dorsal fin and dark scarring on its right side making it quite easy for us to identify. The second trip of the day saw an increase in wind and swell however the clouds from this morning had cleared making for some nice, warm viewing from the boat. This trip started off very slow, with a shark appearing only 20 minutes after arrival however this individual and the next did not seem too interested in staying near the surface where we could see them. Just when things seemed lost a large, dark shadow was spotted making its way towards us! This turned out to be the 4.2m female from the first trip and she didn’t want to leave us before she made a BIG impression! Not to be out done, one of our favourite large females in the bay at the moment, “Rosie”, made a comeback today after a week or so of not sighting her. It was great to see this shark as she is one of our acoustically tagged individuals and today is the eve of her tagging! We would like to wish Ty and Stacey a wonderful day on Saturday for their Wedding and all the best wishes in the future! Nothing like a bit of shark cage diving to get you in the mood for a wedding…
