We hoped that yesterday afternoon’s White shark sighting was a good sign for things to come and headed out onto the water hoping that we would see something again today but also very anxious as wildlife is unpredictable and the last few months has certainly showed us this here in Gansbaai.

The first trip of the day had Copper sharks around the boat very quickly, with what appeared to be at least three different individual sharks coming and going, these disappeared during our second cage of divers and s we were all wondering where they had gotten too our question was answered as a large female White shark come rocketing out of the water towards the back of the boat. This was a female we had seen in the last month before the sharks disappeared after the Orca sighting in the bay. She made a few passes and an amazing attempt on the decoy before disappearing into the distance. The Short-tailed stingray kept us company for the rest of the trip before we headed back.

The second trip of the day launched and we hoped the luck would continue with the White sharks. Whilst no White sharks appeared during this trip the Coppers were back again showing whilst they might not be the largest shark species in the bay they still can captivate an audience! The Short-tailed stingray was another addition to this trip as well.

The afternoon trip launched into some choppier conditions but it was still a beautiful day to be out on the water. The Copper sharks and Shor-tailed stingrays appeared quickly however soon disappeared with the arrival of a White shark. The guest on board were able to have a nice view of this shark before it moved along and the Copper sharks returned for the rest of the trip.

Some fantastic views of sharks on all three of our trips today, whilst sightings are still uncertain we are happy that all our guests were able to see a shark, whether that be a Copper or a White shark and we are truly grateful for their patience and understanding out on the water….
