Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: 19 – 19.7 C

Depth: 9m

Visibility: 1.5 – 1m, decreasing to around 0.5m in the afternoon.

Conditions: A windy but sunny day out on the not so deep blue.

It was a stunning day to be out on the water with the African sun living up to her scorching reputation. Although we had a little wind, it came from the east, making the sea flat and the air really pleasant.

The first trip of the day launched at around 9 and we had our first Bronze Whaler Sharks within  minutes. We got incredibly lucky with our sightings today, as the sharks just kept coming.  There were also a variety of sizes out there, with the smaller animals upping the “Cute factor” as they investigated the bait with curiosity.

As if the sharks were not enough, we were also joined by some ginormous Short Tailed Stingrays. We had a couple of them around, with everyone thoroughly enjoying their visits to the surface! These guys certainly live up to their title of the largest marine based sting ray. The Copper Sharks did not seem all to phased by their presence, which meant that we could see both species in front of the Cage at the same time! This made for some incredible sights on both trips, with many a great photo being taken out on the water today.

The second trip of the day had the same luck, with the sharks arriving instantly and staying throughout the entire trip. The sharks were really nice and active, which made the time pass really quickly. We also had 2 stingrays around who are super cool to watch when they launch themselves at the bait.

All in all, a great day on the water.
