Sightings:  Great White Sharks, Albatross, Giant Petrel

Today we launched quite early to try and catch our sharks. Once we boarded we headed straight to our anchor spot, our guests quickly geared up and we started to wait. Unfortunately for us sharks did not feel very social in the morning so we had to wait for our great white for quite a while, however while we were waiting we had some great birding time with two Albatrosses gliding by our boat and a giant petrel givingf us a couple circles, When we finaly got our 3m male shark, he was nice enough to stick with us for some time so everyone who wanted to get into the cage had a chance to spend some time in the water with a great white shark.

We launched for our second trip, and as we always say wildlife is unpredictable, as the activity picked up significantly and we had 5 different great whites on this trip! We started off with our beloved Shaun, a 3.3m male who was as usual, very relaxed and perfect for viewer giving slow passes along the cage. We also had three other Great Whites that all were all juveniles that is to say under the 3.0m length. What an incredible trip we were already having but it was about to get even better! Our stunning 4.5m female, called Clampy, came around to greet us, leaving everyone in awe because of her impressive sizes! Once everyone had their shark cage diving experience we headed back to the harbour to enjoy some soup and bread.

The third and final trip of the day launched as we saw an increase in the wind. The sharks did not appear to be upset by the choppier cconditions and we saw some fantastic activity for the afternoon. Both Shaun and Clampy, the bays current longest staying White sharks for the season came to join for the trip with the trip’s sightings being rounded off with a feisty juvenile.
