We launched from Gansbaai harbour due to the low tide this morning and enjoyed a stupendous ride to our dive site this morning. As we neared the shallows we got our divers geared up and ready for some Sunday shark action. We waited a while this morning for a shark to join us around Slashfin, with some of our eager divers getting in the cage towards the end of the trip. As we were prepping to go though we spotted a dorsal fin of a great white in the distance and as luck had it she came to join us. A large 4.3m female white shark cruised up towards the boat and gave us a couple of nice passes. It appears that this particular female was once satellite tagged, as she has the distinctive bolt patterns that would indicate a SPOT tag once sat atop her dorsal fin. Excellent to see her back in the bay again.
For our second trip we headed straight back to our cage in the shallows, where we secured the cage and got our second group of guests geared up into their suits and ready for a lovely afternoon on the water. While we were not able to get a shark close to the boat this afternoon, we did have a fantastic encounter with a great white in shallower water as we made our way back to the habour. This shark seemed to be soaking up the late afternoon sunshine and was just cruising around! An epic encounter to round off the trip and the week.
