We headed out a little later this morning to the shallows. With some whales gently swimming around the shallows we got a nice start to the trip, and then got our divers geared up and ready to encounter some sharks. We got our first shark quickly, with activity quite slow for the first cage we willed the coppers to gather some speed. As the sun started to burn through the morning cloud, activity started to pick up and the copper sharks became a little less docile. We got some excellent passes by the cage, and even the seal was back chomping away at the small shy sharks again. It seams the seal though has been in the wars with a fresh wound toward the tail end of the animal! We were left to ponder at what could potentially be going after the seal. As our divers went again in the cage today, we were very lucky to have nice and consistent activity to see us through the whole trip. We headed back to the harbour with a happy bunch of divers and encountered even more whales on the way back in!
In the afternoon we headed back towards the shallows, passing by southern right whales, mother and calf. The calf was practising its breach, trying very hard to jump out the water and make a big spash. It was getting quite good at it. Once we were at our dive site our divers geared up and it wasn’t long before the first sharks arrived. Once again they took their time warming up, but towards the end they were happily giving our guests a good view. Two seals came by for a quick visit as well and our guests learned about the seal colony on Geyser Rock. Another southern right whale passed us quickly before disappearing in the murky waters. Towards the end of the afternoon we headed back in, and our clients were very happy with all the activity they saw today.
