Today was one of those days that was great to be out on the water, the conditions had calmed down since yesterday and we really just had some of the swell persisting but otherwise beautiful conditions.

The Copper sharks were out in full force today, perhaps it is the toasty, warm waters we are experiencing, seen to be more favorable to this species of shark. The sightings were fantastic all morning and into the afternoon, with some of the smaller individuals around today and even a few males hanging about, the ‘boys’ have not been seen so commonly around our vessel.

There was also a Short-tailed stingray coming and going throughout the day, much like the Copper sharks, this species of elasmobranch seems to favour the higher side to our temperature range her in Gansbaai.

The elusive White shark appeared as if it was going to evade us today with the morning and some of the afternoon passing by without a glimpse of the bays most famous fish however the last trip seemed to do the trick with a large, dark female Great White approaching the boat. She patrolled around the boat for close to 15 minutes sometimes deep before choosing the moment to come to the surface and make herself visable to all onboard slashfin.

Overall a beautiful day to be out on the water with some fintastic shark sightings throughout the day – a day involving the Marine Dynamics big three…Copper sharks, Short-tailed stingray and a White shark!
