For our first trip we launched from Gansbaai harbour due to the tide. We had a lovely ride round Danger Point to the Shallows where we dropped our anchor secured our cage and got our clients geared up in their wetsuits. While we waited for our first shark this morning, we learned a lot about the sharks and the greater Dyer Island Area. Then out of nowhere we had a 2.5m shark come up and nudge the decoy. This shark came up a couple of times while our first cage of divers were in the water. However this one seemed to disappear into the abyss while our second cage got in. Nevertheless we had some fun with the cage dive quiz, testing our divers about their white shark knowledge! Towards the end of the trip we got the same shark close by the cage again very curious with the decoy line, and on that note we headed back into the harbour for our second trip.
As we headed out on for our second trip we enjoyed the late morning sunshine. We secured our cage and got our divers ready for a day on the water. As we sunned ourselves on the vast decks of Slashfin, we got to know some more about the area and some of the other wildlife. Unfortunately we didn’t get ourselves a shark on this trip, but we headed over to the island to go check out the seals and shark alley and then cruised back to the harbour.
For our final trip of the day we were very lucky to encounter a Southern Right Whale on the way out to our dive site. With some very excited guests we got to our cage geared up our divers and got ready. While we were patient on this trip unfortunately we were not able to secure ourselves a white shark, we did get a cape fur seal around the boat! As the sun started to fade we headed back into the harbour and were ready for some of that fantastic warm soup and bread.
