We had one morning trip today, which is not uncommon at this time of the year as we head into our low season for visitors. However whilst it maybe low season for tourist it its our peak seaon for sharks and today was no different. The conditions today could be mistaken for a beautiful Spring’s day with clear skies and a lot warmer than the last few days, coupled with these conditions were great shark activity! Much like yesterday, todays sharks were mostly male Whites with a few females here and there, many of which were individuals we have come to know over the past days or weeks. The current frequent swimmers we have become used to seeing were yet again back today, “Tum K” and “PJ”, while “PJ” didn’t stick around for long “Tum L” was up to his old tricks crusiing by slowly then picking up speed then all of a sudden disappearing before appearing out of nowhere again. One of the female visitors to the boat today was a large female spotted around Slashfin yesterday and today she yet again proved to be our largest shark of the day! The most active shark of the day goes to one of our small acoustically tagged individuals who became part of the studies here at MD and the Dyer Island Conservation Trust only a few weeks ago and is yet to be named by the generous people who donated the funds for the tag. Just past midday we finished up our morning dive and headed through Shark Alley to look at the Cape Fur seals and we were also lucky enough to spot a lone African penguin swimming in the channel before heading back to land. A wonderful morning spent out on the water with the White sharks…
