Sightings: Bronze whalers and Short-tailed Stingray

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Moderate

A beautiful start to the day as the bays’ conditions had calmed down from the previous few days of either higher swell or wind. We had minimal wind and swell and clear skies making for a pleasant trip out to our anchor site. The first boat on anchor we had no wait for our first shark to appear as a large, female Bronze whaler glided into sight. The Bronze whaler action continued for the entire trip with some lulls in activity as the wind, thus our scent trail changed direction but we started strongly and finished in similar fashion with the addition of a Short-tailed stingray thrown into the mix.

The second trip of the day launched onto similar conditions and experience the same short wait for a shark to appear. The Bronze whalers were yet again a highlight for this trip as a number of individuals were seen throughout the lovely afternoon on sea.
