Sightings: Great White Sharks and Bronze whalers
Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
A wet and wild one on sea today with some larger swell and stronger winds moving through the area. We launched our first trip and headed straight into the Shallows to settle on anchor. The first sharks to arrive were the Bronze whalers and we had some nice activity around the boat even if it was a tad slow at times. It was right towards the end of the trip when the Great White appeared, just as we were readying to head back to land, Shaun the shark made his presence known, cruising up behind the boat before appraoching around the front and coming into view for all on boat. This 3.3m male stuck with us for the remainder of the trip showing us all some awesome views and making for one great end to the morning.
We were back out on sea for our second trip of which a Great White shark was spotted instantly as we approached our site for the afternoon. A juvenile White shark was seen but swiflty disappeared as we settled back onto anchor and prepared our divers. The trip proceeded as so, two juvenile White sharks appearing from the deep, without warning, surprising us all as they made that fast attempt towards the lines and surface, a flick of the tail as they quickly whipped out of the water and disappeared back down to the depths. We had this happen throughout the trip with the addition of a Bronze whaler coming and doing from view.
