We were up bright and early this morning for our first trip, but it was well worth it since we had not 1… not 2… but 5 beautiful white sharks to spend the morning with today. It was less than 30 minutes after dropping our anchor when we were greeted by a 3.6m individual. This shark cruised around a couple times for our first group of cage divers to get a closer look and for us to identify some unique scaring by the tail. Our second was shark was a familiar 3m male who is easily recognized by two square shaped pigmentation scars from a camera tag. Watching the ocean’s surface for our familiar male, we were caught by surprise when a new 3.4m male came into sight. This guy took a hit for our seal decoy exemplifying how sharks will roll their eyes back when attacking their prey. This is not to look scary but simply to protect their eyes since they do not have eyelids. While still admiring our sights of shark number 3, we were excited to see a 3.5 female who, like shark number 2, has been hanging around the bay for about a month now. Lastly, when we thought we had seen it all, we were amazed by a shark number 5! This shark was quick, only giving us one look, but we could not miss its large 4m body size making it our largest shark of the day! After the luck of seeing 5 Great White sharks we headed back to the harbour with the hopes that they would stay around for guests on trip 2!

With our second trip, the sun was shining, and we had a warm afternoon to look forward to! And thankfully we had a shark join us very quickly on this trip. A 3.3m male cruised around Slashfin in some very calm waters. He put on quite the display for our cage divers this afternoon, with some nice energy around the cage. With the wind changing through the trip the activity dropped during the middle of the trip, but we had a lovely 3.5m shark join us towards the end of the trip. While the shark was a little far for our cage divers we got some excellent viewing opportunities from the top deck of Slashfin.

Our final trip of the day was a private charter that had some great luck. With almost no waiting time for the first shark to arrive, followed by great activity, it was a “fintastic” trip! We had visits from 5 different sharks varying in sizes from 2.6 to 4.3 meters. Another great end to another great day!
