Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 16.9’C + 16.6’C
Depth: 13.9m + 14.2m
Visibility: 2.5m + 1.5m
Number of Sharks: 8 + 7
Conditions: Clear skies with flat seas and an increasing south-east wind, leading a choppy afternoon.

This morning was the calm before the storm…we had a flat bay with a slight wind that was seen to increase throughout the trip and which will ultimately put us off the water for the next two days if it continues! However for the time being the conditions were great to be out on the water for some White shark cage diving. We were one of the last boats out this morning however we had our first shark around within only minutes of anchoring and preparing to dive. This was a juvenile White shark which stuck around for most of the trip coming and going as it pleased! We had a number of sharks around this morning and honestly the activity barely stopped as shark after shark come into view. The most active of the trip was our second largest visitor, a female around 4.5m in length and one that we have been seeing frequently over the last few days easily identifiable by the numerous parasite patches she currently has. She continuously cruised around the boat and made some surprise attempts on the bait and decoy line, appearing as if out of nowhere, allowing only those with quick trigger fingers the chance to get that once in a life-time photograph! The largest shark of the morning was truly awe-inspiring as her large 4.5m+ shadow was spotted cruising up from the depths, whilst she did not stick around for long, the time that she did spend with us is something most of our visitors will remember for a long time! Is there any better way to spend a Thursday morning…I think not!

Congratulations to all our newly wed couples that joined us on the boat today, we hope you all the best for you futures together. Remember a couple that dives together stays together!

As the last few days we have been very lucky with our shark sightings. Just arrived and we had some sharks around our vessel ‘Slashfin’. The first few sharks out of seven were quite small ones, around three meter. Later on during the trip while waiting for a shark to pass we were surprised by a big great white shark coming from the deep. It was also the biggest shark during our trip with 4.5m in length. After great sightings of these graceful creatures we were heading back to the harbour.
