The first trip got out nice and early in the calm blue waters of the bay with less than 15 minutes wait before our first shark arrived. Jacob, a 4 m male white shark who we have seen a few times over the last couple of weeks. We also saw Mandy again, who has been around in the bay for a couple of months now. We also had a visit from a 3 m male shark called Pieter. He had been tagged earlier in the week by the Marine Dynamics research team with an acoustic tag. This tag will give off a constant ping at a certain frequency to allow us to track the movement of these sharks in the bay for up to 12 months. Our research team were tracking Pieter around our boat today, but the previous day he spent the whole day in very shallow water off the beach! Some very interesting data being collected from these individuals. The second trip also saw one of our tagged sharks. Paisley is a 3.5 m female shark who has some clear white scratch marks all over her head and body. We also saw a 3.5 m female white shark who was incredibly graceful around our boat for a short period of time before moving off to carry on her sharky business. The third trip also saw Pieter and Paisley cruising around the boat, with lots of action around the decoy by a large female white shark. Great siting’s and happy shark fans!
