What a fantastic day at sea!  We launched early to overcast skies, but the sharks didn’t seem to care at all.  We had really nice sightings throughout the trip including a return appearance of one of our tagged sharks.  Several of our visitors made very close passes to the cage to the delight of everyone.  Big congratulations to our wedding couple!  It was so fun having you both as well as many of your friends on board with us today.  You asked great questions all while making sure the entire boat was entertained.

The second trip of the day started off fantastically with sharks spotted on arrival. We had a number of smaller White sharks round this trip, keeping things fast paced as they streamed on by, picking up speed every so often to show us some impressive shark acrobatics, in particular a juvenile male we know as “Dolphin fin”! We also had some familiar fins seen this afternoon including a sub-adult female known as “Little Rosie” and one of our acoustically tagged sharks, named “Flubs”. This trip also saw a Short-tailed stingray, and whilst it broke the waters surface a few times it mainly kept to the depths, with its’ shadow seen every now and again gliding by.

The third and final trip launched this afternoon and we headed straight back into the Shallows to see if we could continue with more great sightings like earlier on in the day. Once on anchor two large sharks appeared instantly. These two sharks, one male and female, and both 4.0m+ in length were sharks that we had seen right at the end of our second trip and lucky for us were still in the area. The large female turned out to be the most active of the afternoon as she made stunning attempts on the bait and decoy line displaying slow, vertical approaches! We also saw the return of a juvenile male we know as “Dolphin fin”, a larger male known as “Cutfin” and a very small male that has been a frequent visitor to our boat over the last few days with a healing bite mark to its head. We had a few very deep glimpses of the Short-tailed stingray this afternoon as well, however it kept its’ distance and did not disturb our sharks too much. A magnificent trip to end a great day…
