A wonderful start to the day as we spotted some Bryde’s whales on the way to our dive site. These are some of the shyest of the three species of whales that we generally see in this area but we were lucky enough to catch sight of their blow and dorsal fin. We had a slow start to the morning with the winds constantly changing up our attracting scent trail direction however after 45 minutes we had our first sharks that came on close by, a large animal that did not stick around then a small juvenile that seemed a bit skittish as it quickly swam by the right side of the cage and disappeared. Then one of our current frequent visitors arrived, a male with a curled dorsal fin and whilst this shark has been active the last few days it seemed a bit off today as it chose to spend most of its’ time circling around in front of the boat! The action started to heat up with the last shark, a large juvenile that wowed during the last cage of the trip as it made pass after pass by the cage and flashed its’ teeth for those in the water and those waiting patiently on board for the chance to get a smiling shark photograph. The second trip moved into the Shallows and after we have arrived at our dive site we spotted the first Great White shark around our vessel Slashfin. In total we spotted seven different sharks during that trip, the smallest was just above two meters and the biggest around four meter. We also have seen well known faces around the cage, we had Mini Rosie and Mark the shark. They visit our area a few times during the year. We also had a short tailed sting ray coming up to the bait and decoy a few times. Over all we had a jawesome day…
