Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Bryde’s whale, Sunfish, Cape fur seal + Short-tail stingray
Summary: Lower tides for our morning trip meant we launched from Gansbaai Harbour. As we made our way around the peninsula, we caught brief sightings of the Bryde’s whale, found all year round in our waters. As we continued, 2 sunfish were then seen, allowing guests to witness the ocean’s largest bony fish! On anchor, Bronze whaler sharks were present through both trips. Multiple, mature females offered up close sightings for those in the cage and on the vessel. Another elasmobranch was sighted, the Short-tail stingray, gracefully emerging from their usual benthic environment to investigate the activity at the cage. A great day that boasted fantastic marine diversity, thank you to everyone who joined us on board today!
