Trip 1 took a little bit of patience at the start of the trip before the sharks showed themselves. However, when they did they were high tempo and made some high energy passes and broaches at the decoy and bait. The star of the show was Mandy, a 3 m female white shark that has become a regular over the last couple of months. Trip 2 carried on from where trip 1 left off and score a total of 8 sharks including ‘Fishing line Shark’ who was last seen in May 2015. This shark has a place in the Marine Dynamic team’s hearts as the team were able to remove entangled fishing line from around this sharks head which was cutting into the sharks body and creating serious harm to the shark. Although he still bears the scars, he has recovered and is looking strong again. Trip 3 saw 5 sharks in total one of which was a shark with a cut dorsal fin, which is most likely from a boat propeller. However, again this shark seems perfectly fit and healthy. These two individuals seen on the trips today are a great example of how humans effect sharks in a number of different ways when we are in their environment, and also how hardy and tough these sharks are and their ability to recover and overcome such effects.

If you are looking to get up close and personal with the great white shark then Shark Diving in South Africa, and more specifically with Marine Dynamics, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you won’t want to miss.
