A little bit of a later start for us today! The extra sleep had us pumped up and ready to go find some sharks though! As we got to the shallows today halfway through handing out wet suits we had a white shark!!!! The 3.5m female with the frayed tail seems to be sticking around, and that is a welcome relief, she is a super shark! With plenty of action for the first couple of cages to view, activity dropped a little and it seemed like she’d called it a day, but just as we were losing hope bang she was back! In addition to this lovely lady we also had a swarm of copper sharks towards the end of the trip too! With 10 circling very close to the cage, the screams of excitement from our divers were contagious!
For our second trip of the day, we picked up the cage and were greeted briefly by a Copper shark before our first White shark of the trip came hurtling out of the water! This was Mini Nemo, a male estimated at 3.4m in length and one of our Iconic White sharks in this area, of which he visits approximately 4 times a year. The female White shark from the first trip reappeared for our second group and between the two Whites and a few Coppers we had nearly consistant shark activity throughout the trip. A successful end to the weekend, and hopefully more White sharks are headed our way for what could be a very white Christmas.
