We were met by a beautiful morning in the harbour today with the sun shining and flat, still seas! What more could we ask for…great shark activity of course, and thats exactly what we saw.Whilst our first shark took close to 30 minutes to show its toothy grin it was well worth the wait with this specific individual being an average size female we have been seeing a lot of around the boat recently and she chose this morning to spent the entire trip around us. She is easily recognisable by bite marks to both side of her face. Next up was none other than one of our tag and tracked celebrities, “Rosie”, always a great trip when she turns up. We were also graced by the presence of a juvenile male known as “Mini Nemo”, a small but friesty juvenile with a bite mark on its left side and two of our recently tagged White sharks, a male approximately 4.0m and a female approximately 3.2m in length. Those on board we also treated to an introduction with a Short-tailed stingray that glided up a few times to investigate the surface happenings! The launch for the second trip of the day was completely different to this mornings trip with the Westerly winds kicking it up for the afternoon. We collected our cage from our morning dive site, the Geldsteen, and moved into the Alley where the Island’s would provide some shelter from the conditions. Close to an hour after anchor we had our first shark glide slowly up from the depths, showing off that beautiful white under belly they were named for. This was a female juvenile that stuck with us the entire trip not straying too far before coming back for some more passes infont of the cage. Just towards the end of our trip our second shark of the afternoon made its way around the back of the boat, a male very similar in size to our first shark but not as curious! A diverse day of shark cage diving…
