Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, African penguins, Short-tail stingray + Cape fur seal
Summary: We had afternoon launches for our trips today to accommodate a lower tide from Kleinbaai Harbour that led us into the bay with calm waters and clearing skies. The first trip had a sighting of the African penguins en route to the harbour. At the dive site, sharks were initially shy, but after an anchor adjustment, multiple Bronze whaler were soon present in front of the cage, with a brief sighting of the Short-tail stingray. The second trip saw an increase in shark activity, with Bronze whalers arriving promptly at the anchor site before divers were even ready in their wetsuits! A curious Cape fur seal also came to investigate the vessel, with another sighting of the Short-tail stingray, identified as an individual first seen in Kleinbaai in 2018! Overall a great start to the long weekend, thank you to everyone who embraced today’s adventure with us!
