Sightings: Bronze whalers

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Cold

Visibility: Moderate

Good morning Gansbaai! We had a golden start to the day with the spectacular sunrise enjoyed over the bay as we made our way into the Shallows. The conditions were pleasant for the start of our trip with a slight swell and wind moving through the area, something of which we saw increasing as the trip continued but with this came the golden sightings! The first shark sighting was a Bronze whaler, cruising sneakily from the left of the boat and coming into full view once infront of the cage. The brave divers took the plunge into the chilly Atlantic seas and were greeted with some fantastic views of a large female Bronze whaler that was continually seen throughout the morning. The trip progressed with our next two cages of divers as we saw some other Bronze whalers arrive, most of which appeared to be female adults, a slight bit smaller than the first one to appear for the day. The three hour trip came to an end as we made our way back to the harbour, with good thoughts of hot soup and fresh baked rolls waiting for us in the warm and cosy Great White House.
