Trip 1
An early but beautiful start to the day as we headed out of the harbour with the sun rising over the bay. Once on anchor we had a little wait for our first shark to show up but once that shark was around more followed. It looks as if the juvniles are dominated the area at the moment as we had six out of eight sharks for the morning estimated under the 3.0m length however the other two, a male and female that arrived later in the trip were closer to the 3.5m length giving a lasting impression to our divers. This trip saw the likes of “Mandy”, “Mini Nemo” and “Sellendilloh” visit the boat, the first two of which are some of our favourites and the later one, a satellite tagged animal from the Ocearch study done in 2012 on which you can find more information here. The trip ended with a closer look at the Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock.

Trip 2
The second trip started off well with the juvenile female known as “Mandy” seen about five minutes after the boat arrived back on site. The sharks that were seen on the first trip made a second appearance for the day, making sure that the guests who joined us on board Slashfin for the middle trip were able to enjoy similar great activity to that seen in the morning.

Trip 3
The third and final trip of the day was an exclusive trip for a family of six visiting from Belgium. This family trip was a highlight for the youngest in the family, who is a big shark fan, and once that first shark came into view the smile did not leave his face. We had two very active females around for this trip, including a small female we have been seeing for the last three weeks and the large female from the first trip measuring in at around 3.5m. We finished the day off with another pass through Shark Alley before heading back to land.

Happy Birthday to Emily who joined us this morning and spent her special day with the White sharks!
