There was a little bit more motion in the ocean today compared to the last few days and due to the conditions we could not anchor comfortably in the Geldsteen, the area we have been using recently, so made our way into the Shallows, our Summer diving area. This decision proved to not hinder our shark sightings but we were pleasently surprised to find just as many sharks in the Shallows as at the Island. We had a small shark arrive in the beginning but not to long after the big sharks started to make their way in. Whilst the visibility was on the low side today we were lucky enough to have sharks that were happy to come close to the cage, one large female going as far as spyhopping whilst showing her underbelly to the divers only centremetres from the cage. This visility also mean’t that there were many surprise attempts on the bait and decoy line, one which ended with a half breach as a smaller White shark went quickly for the decoy, such a surprise that this photographer didn’t have the time to get the photograph! We had a visitor that we have been seeing the past two days around the Island, “PJ”, a juvenile male we have become aquainted with over the last year or so and who seems to utilise the entire bay, luckily for us. A action filled morning out in the bay…
