A calm glorious day at sea started with Mandy, a 3 m white shark with a clear white scar across her back. She hung around for a long time coming and going. We were also visited by two large male sharks approximately 4 m in length. One was a well-known shark we call Jacob who was recently DNA and Stable isotope sampled for an ongoing study here at marine dynamics on white shark behaviour and genetics. Great to see him back! Our second trip of the day had some great action at the cage, after a little wait the sharks came in to investigate our chum slick. Calmly approaching the decoy and bait with caution and calculated approaches, not the man eating machines that the media portrays.

The third trip were also in luck, Mandy was still around for a little while at the start. We were then later treated to a majestic shark which left the whole boat in awe. She cruised in passed our cage, a 4.7 m huge white shark, a true thing of beauty. She made Mandy look like a goldfish in size comparison. She also pooped right in front of the cage as she swam passed, which is a rare site to see.  What an amazing siting and a great way to demonstrate the sheer power and grace of this incredible animal to a boat full of shark lovers! We were then visited by the opposite, a 1.2 m white shark, possibly young of the year came in right at the end of our trip to finish of another beautiful day on the big blue.
