Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 16.8’C + 16.0’C
Depth: 7.9 m + 11.5 m
Visibility: 1.5 m + 1.0 m
Number of Sharks:  5 + 6
Conditions: Broken clouds throughout the day with a slight swell and winds picking up as the day went on.

Today was a windy but Sharktastic day! As the wind picked up during the day, so did the sharks’ activity. We saw 5 sharks in the morning and 6 in the afternoon ranging from 2.2 m to 3.6 meters. As always, we were happy to see some familiar face like “Caroline” a juvenile 2.8 female shark that we first saw on 24th September 2015, easily recognizable with her moustache looking scar on left side below her dorsal fin. She did amaze everyone in and out of the cage with her serene beauty casually swiming around the cage and boat. “Pieter”, another male shark same size as “Caroline” joined us to show his fierece character attempting a couple of goes at our decoy as he likes to tease the crew handling it. Our on board Marine Biologist was very pleased to see again “Bitey” a male great white shark that was last seen in July 2015 as she clearly noticed his bite wound right below his dorsal fins being healing properly. Other than the regular short tailed stingray that does pop out from time to time, we were all very pleased and surprised to see a Bronze Whaler Shark, that is very uncommon for us to see around our boat. Indeed last time one was spotted around our boat was November 2013. This type of shark is a bit shy, but still very pleasant to observe their activity. Overall, another fintastic day at sea!
