The first trip this morning launched nice and early from Kleinbaai harbour with somewhat of a strong Easterly wind that was set on making the trip a bit rough! There was a short wait for the first shark to arrive, however when it did it was instantly seen to have some extensice scarring to the right side of its face, a previous bite wound that has healed over into a small lump. This particular individual was documented last year in November just after this injury occurred. Photographs of the fresh injury can be found on one of our past blogs here. We had a small juvenile this morning that none of us are familiar with, very distinguishable from the other sharks due to the fact it is missing the upper lobe of its caudal fin (tail). The second trip of the day started off well with a juvenile White shark spotted circling the cage as we approached. This shark disappeared as our first divers were getting into the cage, but activity lacked for only a few moments before new sharks started making their way in. This afternoon we were yet again graced by the shark with scarring to its face, this male had some awesome activity around us with slow approaches across the front of the cage. We also has the juvenile without the tip of its tail and some larger individuals around the 4.0m length. The number and activity of the sharks was great this afternoon, at one point we could see 4 different sharks from the front of the boat cruising along the surface. Is it possible that the Winter sharks have arrived?! A little late but none the less welcome…
