What a lovely end to the month, we had some fantastic conditions today out on the water with the seas flat and th sun shining. What could make the day any better you may ask…

The third shark was also an interesting shark as it had a satellite tag on the dorsal fin. It turned out to be Helen Suzman a shark tagged by Ocearch back in 2012. She was tagged in Mossel Bay but we have only started seeing her in Gansbaai this year…

The difference a day can make is astounding! The swell and wind had increased today but so had the number of sharks and the activity…

The sharks seem to be playing hide and seek, fortunately we have been able to find them every day!! Clear visibility around the island makes the views from inside the cage even better…

Two days off the water and we were ready to get straight back out and see some sharks however it appeared the sharks had other plans…

Our days out on the water are full of surprises but no one was expecting the MASSIVE surprise we got on the 12th of May. A female Great White, bigger than our cage in length and girth, got the whole boat excited…

This work forms an integral component of my PhD research on white shark behavioral ecology and habitat use in the Gansbaai region…

The last day in a series with amazing weather conditions. From tomorrow we won’t be able to go out for alteast 2 days due to a cold front coming in. Weather conditions were good and even though the sharks have been a bit slow the last 2 days everyone saw the Great Whites from within the cage…
