A late morning start as we launched at 10am from Kleinbaai harbor. This did however not keep the sharks from coming close to the cage minutes after getting to our dive spot. We spotted sharks, pelagic birds, hagfish and stingrays…
We did not just see lots of White sharks today but also a Southern Right whale close to the boat…
Joining us on the boat today were Simone Rizzuto and Georgia French, two PhD students collaborating to collect biopsy samples from the Great White sharks which they need for their research…
Today we launched from Gansbaai harbor and we spotted not just sharks but also penguins, seals and a few Southern Right whales. Looks like more and more whales keep moving back in to the area…
The third shark was also an interesting shark as it had a satellite tag on the dorsal fin. It turned out to be Helen Suzman a shark tagged by Ocearch back in 2012. She was tagged in Mossel Bay but we have only started seeing her in Gansbaai this year…
The sharks seem to be playing hide and seek, fortunately we have been able to find them every day!! Clear visibility around the island makes the views from inside the cage even better…
Our days out on the water are full of surprises but no one was expecting the MASSIVE surprise we got on the 12th of May. A female Great White, bigger than our cage in length and girth, got the whole boat excited…
The last day in a series with amazing weather conditions. From tomorrow we won’t be able to go out for alteast 2 days due to a cold front coming in. Weather conditions were good and even though the sharks have been a bit slow the last 2 days everyone saw the Great Whites from within the cage…
A perfect day to go out to sea to experience what the waters of Gansbaai and Kleinbaai have to offer when it comes down to marine life…
Even though conditions were a bit rough out at sea, conditions in shark alley were great to anchor and do some awesome shark cage diving…
