It was a great day at sea with little to no waiting time for the sharks to arrive! It is always a great treat if the sharks decide to arrive promptly at ‘work’! The sharks we encountered were for the most part well above the 3 meter mark and very entertaining. As an extra treat we were greeted by a whole family of African (black footed) penguins, they were very close to the boat and then started to move out towards greener pastures. Just to top off an amazing day, we were very fortunate to have encountered a massive pod of bottlenose dolphins on our way back in towards the harbour. What an amazing treat…
Today we had a rocky start to our trip with our computer crashing! The power was cut off and so the computer shut down! We simply converted back to the old school method of doing things, pen and paper! After successfully getting everyone’s details we headed out to see to find our sharks! At the Dam we were very lucky to spot a massive pod of bottlenose dolphins however less lucky in spotting our local sharks. After a while of chumming the waters at the Dam, our skipper made the call to find greener pastures somewhere else and boy did we find it! We moved our operation to Dyer Island and hit the jackpot! Our waiting paid off with the arrival of a massive 4.1 meter female, who we have spotted on several occasions in the Dam. They other sharks were also large and were very “playful” with our bait handlers, keeping them on their toes! All’s well that ends well…
Today was so much more than just a shark cage diving experience, we were so fortunate to have loads of shark activity as well as various other animals in the area! Our day started brilliantly with lots of active sharks and amazing visibility. “Big Nemo” paid us a visit and she was looking very ravishing! After our amazing shark diving excursion, our guests were welcomed by at least 20 bottlenose dolphins off the bow of the boat. They were truly an awesome sight. After that we ventured past shark alley to visit our friends the seals who were lazing about on Geyser Rock. Finally making our way back into port we had some subantarctic skua trying to grab some fish from our crew. It is amazing how these birds literally eat out of your hands. Truly a great day…
