Pioneers of Change
Alina Pryazhkina Rogers
Visiting Marine Biologist
Alina’s journey with Marine Dynamics has been intertwined with her passion for marine wildlife and conservation. Originally from Russia, she discovered her love for the ocean during her early years volunteering with the Marine Dynamics Academy in 2013. This experience ignited her interest in marine biology and conservation, leading her to return in 2017 as an intern while pursuing her BSc in International Wildlife Biology at the University of South Wales.
Alina’s Bachelor’s project focused on African penguins, further deepening her understanding of marine ecosystems and conservation challenges. Her dedication and enthusiasm for marine research and education soon led her to join the skills-based internship programme at the Marine Dynamics Academy. With her growing expertise, Alina transitioned into the role of a guiding biologist on shark cage diving and whale-watching vessels, where she plays a crucial role in collecting and contributing to the observational database on sharks and other marine species.
Beyond her scientific contributions, Alina also plays a pivotal role in marketing efforts aimed at the Russian market, leveraging her language skills and cultural insights to enhance outreach and engagement. Her dual role as a biologist and marketer underscores her commitment to both scientific research and public outreach, ensuring that her work not only advances marine conservation but also fosters greater awareness and appreciation among diverse audiences.
Alina continues to thrive in her dual roles, embodying a holistic approach to marine conservation that integrates scientific research, education, and outreach. Her journey with Marine Dynamics exemplifies her dedication to protecting marine ecosystems and inspiring others to join in safeguarding our ocean’s biodiversity.
