Day: August 26, 2012

Today was a bit of a waiting game on board Slash Fin! We have grown accustomed to the sharks arriving within minutes on the scene upon our arrival; however that was not to be. After a little of my singing and dancing routine a shark appeared on the scene and we were able to dive the majority of the people on board. After a period of silence, the skipper mad the call to move to a new location. There we found some bigger sharks which were fantastic and we also saw a sat tagged shark. We later found out from our whale watching boat that they had spotted a pod of 6 killer whales chasing after a super pod of common dolphins. This could possibly be the explanation behind the scarcity of sharks…

Two successful trips today with both shark sightings as well as a Southern Right Whale sighting on our first trip. We had an interesting group of rugby boys from the UK accompanied by their coaches and teachers; I know they enjoyed themselves thoroughly. On our second trip we had about the same number of sharks with equally good activity. We also had schools of Mullet surrounding the boat, most likely looking for a free meal. Great day…
