Even though the water temperature has dropped about two degrees over the last couple of days, the fact that the sun was out in full force made up for it all! We were once again the only boat out on the water today which meant that we had all the sharks in the area all to ourselves! The conditions on the water were very pleasant with great weather for working on ones tan, not that I need any more tanning :)! Our sharks arrived in a matter of seconds and the first bunch were all massive females around the 4 meter mark! Great to start off big and maintain it throughout the trip! We were also lucky to conclude the trip with a terrific sighting of a Southern Right Whale on the horizon! Exceptional day…
We were the only shark cage diving company out on the water today, due to the fact that our boat Slash Fin can cope very well with the bigger weather conditions. The conditions at sea were actually quite pleasant and not at all what they predicted on the forecast! We were also very fortunate that the spot we chose today had three sharks already on site when we arrived! I am also so glad that the clients who had dire fears of great whites were converted to the light! They are beautiful animals which deserve our respect and not our fears. We were also treated to a spectacular sight today; a Cape Gannet plunged into the water just a meter from our boat. It barely missed one of our crew members heads as it was chasing after its prey. These birds are remarkable in the fact that they can hit the water at speeds of over a 100 km/h! What a treat to be able to see it in action…
