Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Moderate
Sightings: Bronze whaler shark, Broadnose sevengill shark, Cape fur seal + African penguins
Summary: A return to the water after Christmas Day, with a surprising drop in water temperature causing an unexpected change in shark activity. The first two trips did not have any shark sightings, however a predating Cape fur seal offered a smaller benthic shark species as a snack! A few guests decided to take the cold plunge into Atlantic waters and make the most of their time on board. Moving on from the dive site, a visit to Geyser Rock allowed guests to view the impressive colony, on which many new born pups could be spotted. The third trip of the day struck luck, with the sighting of two shark species, the Bronze whaler & Broadnose sevengill sharks! Thank you to all who joined us today and understanding the ins and outs of working with unpredictable wildlife! We hope to have you back soon.
