Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Cold

Visibility: Good

Conditions: Calm seas and nice visibility today

We started our trip nice and early with a little bit of mist. We had to put our wetsuits on land to keep our guests nice and dry on the way to the dive location. Once we reached to the dive site we had to hang around a little bit for the first sharks to come but it was well worth it. Bronze Whalers started coming to our boat giving a great show for our guests. The bronzie activity improved as the day progressed. We were also lucky to see a short-tailed stingray coming for our baits a few times. Once everyone got their chance in the cage we headed back to the harbour to pick up our next group.

The second trip of the day headed out into the misty bay. Whilst this mist coated the area, making everything somewhat damp it also added to the sharky feeling for the day, yet it wasn’t long before the sun had burnt through the fog and the bay was clear. The sharks were a little slow to begin with, as the Bronze Whaler was the first sighted before a Cape Fur seal came by as to not miss out on the fun. Soon however the shark activity really heated up with many great approaches by the Bronze Whalers and not one but two different Great Whites, a new, large male to the bay, approximately 4.0m in length and looking very clean with little to no markings and a juvenile shark, approximately 2.5m in length, which we believe to be female and one we have seen previously over the last few weeks. A lovely trip to finish of the day.
