Conditions: gorgeous day on sea
When we arrived at our anchor spot, we realized that we were right in the middle of a red tide algae bloom. These conditions often minimize visibility due to the almost burgundy color of the water. As we waited for sharks we were greeted by white chinned petrels, a giant petrel and even an Albatross in the distance. After waiting for quite some time, we re-anchored in the shallows. The move paid off when a 2.5m beauty turned up and interacted with the boat. Even though the shark would disappear from time to time, everyone was able to see this amazing creature in action.
The second trip was visited by a new shark to the bay. We were thrilled as a staff to recognize that yet another different shark has arrived in the area. She was a 3.4m female and displayed high levels of activity around the boat. All of the divers were able to get a look from the cage. We left feeling very lucky to have such a nice interaction with this stunning shark. On the way back to harbour, we made a quick pass by the seal colony before calling it a day.
