Whilst it was an early and cold start to the day this morning the bay could not have looked more beautiful with the sun rising over the flattest seas we have seen in five days! We didn’t have long to wait for our first shark with a 3.5m male turning up not long after anchor! With divers quickly getting into the cage this shark stuck around for about 10 minutes before disappearing. We had a juvenile White shark show up for a pass and then we played the waiting game…a very long waiting game with no sharks spotted for close to two hours. During the wait we moved a little closer inshore hoping for some better luck and just as we were about to pack up a shark was spotted in the distance! This juvenile male gave us a fantastic end to the trip as he made multiple passes right by the cage for everyone to see. Before heading back to land we detoured by the Islands to see one of the White sharks main food sources in the area, the Cape fur seal, as they sunbathed and swam in their thousands around Geyser Rock. A nice way to end a beautiful morning out in the bay.

The second trip of the day launched to the same beautiful conditions as the first. We were very lucky to have a shark right away.  After that, things went quiet for a little bit before really picking up as the trip went on.  On several occasions we had multiple sharks around the boat.  Perhaps it was the sharks looking for their May baskets since it was May Day.

On our last and third trip we were spoiled with the sharks we saw. We immediately had sharks around our vessel, Slashfin. We had two big great white sharks around 4m as well as some smaller ones. In total we were lucky and encountered seven different individuals. The shark activity was constantly good, slowly passing the cage but also actively going for the decoy. We had a great trip on such a lovely day.
