Location: Gansbaai, South Africa

Dive site: Joubertsdam

Water temp: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail Stingray, African penguins + Cape fur seal

Summary: An early launch for our first guests of today. As we left Kleinbaai Harbour, our first wildlife sighting was encountered, a small group of African penguins. We continued towards the dive site, where the Short-tail stingrays arrived, shortly followed by the Bronze whaler sharks. Despite poor visibility, up close activity allowed divers a good sight of the animals. For the second trip off the day we were also lucky to encounter a raft off highly endangered African penguins before reaching our dives site! As soon as we anchored we were welcomed by the Bronze whaler sharks! Most off these sharks were females displaying fresh mating wounds! Thank you to everyone who joined us on board Slashfin!
