Trip 1
The crew of Slashfin were back at it again today after a day off the water due to some high swells and wind and of course we were all wondering what our underwater conditions would be like and also the shark activity. Things were off to a bit of a slow start this morning with the shark arrivals and activity on the shy side and to further hinder this the visibility was extremely low to non-existant making viewing of the sharks that did turn up even harder however we must remember that his time last year saw the beginning of a 21 day period of shark scarcity with no sightings so whilst the water may be murky we must be grateful to have these magnificent creatures still around. The five sharks that showed up this morning consisted of two we know, a large male we refer to as “Tarm K”, easily recognisable by the curled tip to his dorsal fin and “Gigi” one of the smallest White sharks we are seeing in the bay at the moment what this little female lacks in size she more than makes up for it with her behaviour around the boat. The other sharks that visited this morning were unidentified new individuals around our boat.

Trip 2
The second trip of the day launched and we were pleasently surprised to have the first shark come into sight just as the divers were getting into their wetsuits. This was the large male “Tarm K” back again for the afternoon. He did not stick around long but was luckily joined by other sharks including two juveniles that approached slowly on the surface allowing us a great view as well as “Paisley” one of our acoustically tagged females that was tagged in December 2015 by our Dyer Island Conservation Trust as well as “Mini Nemo” and “Mini Rosie” who are both not so mini anymore as both now measure approximately over the 3.3m length. We also had a full breach only 20 metres from the boat that many of our guests were lucky enough to see and a Short-tailed stingray join us for some of the trip before disappearing into the murky depths.
